A professionally designed and installed pond will become the centerpiece of your backyard landscaping, attracting birds, butterflies, dragonflys creating a natural environment. Our ponds are beautiful in every season, and following the Aquascape design philosophy we create ponds that are low maintenance, with principals developed and proven over 30+ years.

The Aquascape System

The Aquascape system is a living ecosystem. The skimmer (or intake bay on larger ponds) acts as a mechanical filter, preventing organic debris collecting in the pond. The Biofalls (or wetland filter on larger ponds) is the Biological filter, an area for beneficial bacteria to colonize and remove excess nutrients from the water. Pumps help circulate and oxygenate the water for healthy fish and plants. Rock and gravel provide surface area for beneficial bacteria. Fish eat string algae, while Plants act as filters using excess nutrients to grow and add beautiful color and texture to your pond. The Aquascape system has been developed over several decades and is proven to be a reliable, low maintenance system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Smaller ponds range from $4,000-$15,000. Larger ponds with more depth, longer streams or taller water falls, underwater lighting or customer features will cost more. Every pond is a unique piece and we provide detailed estimates as part of the consultation.

Our first step is a complimentary consultation where we discuss your project. We then create a custom design. We schedule your project and when it is your turn we bring your design to fruition.

Smaller project can be less disruptive to your existing landscape, larger projected however utilize heavy equipment, and often several tons of boulders, gravel, and loam. We do our best to keep the site clean throughout the process, but it is common for homeowners to get nervous when they see the process get underway. When we finish you will be ready for terrestrial plantings, like your pond has been there all along.

We recommend at least 1000 gallons, with a minimum depth of 2 feet. In Massachusetts and New Hampshire we recommend 3 feet depth, and larger ponds for a more stable ecosystem.
